Cuff Training Tape
IMPORTANCE OF HANDCUFF TRAINING
One of the most important skills an officer must possess is the efficient and effective method of handcuffing persons that they have arrested or detained. Unless it is practiced often, the skill set will usually perish over time. Regardless of what system of handcuffing your agency utilizes, cuff training tape will help your students quickly learn the progressive steps in the process. It also provides a layer of protection for their wrists, reducing injury potential (abrasions/welts/cuts/snags/possible infection) from repeatedly having cuffs applied to them.
HOW CUFF TRAINING TAPE WORKS?
Simply apply the tape to the wrists of the students and they will be able to learn the tactical steps by reading and then immediately performing the tasks. It will become second nature to them as they will have a “quarterback cheat sheet” directly at the site where the cuffs will be applied! The other benefit of the tape is similar to kinesiology tape (used by high level professional athletes) which are believed to aid in support and circulation to the underlying tissue and joint(s). The tape also acts as an extra layer of protection incase the students bring uncleaned operational duty handcuffs into the training arena.
